It is easy to get discouraged when things go wrong, but we must not lose heart. God is at work in our world, even in the midst of pain and trial. The next time your little hut is burning to the ground, remember that it just may be a smoke signal to summon the grace of God. For any negative thing we say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for it. Consider:

The Context of Luke 16:1-13 is one of the most powerful in the New Testament on the subject of money. Jesus told a story of a rich man who had a steward, accused of mishandling his goods. He informed the steward that he was going to remove him from his position. Realizing that upon losing his job, he might be rather destitute the steward acted quickly to secure his own future by reducing the indebtedness that various ones owed to his master. Finding out what the steward had done, the rich man could not help but admire his wisdom, and commended him for it. Jesus certainly does not condone unrighteousness in any shape, form nor fashion but simply employed that story to make a pragmatic point: "the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of light" (verse 9). The unrighteous steward wisely used the money at his disposal while he could for his own future well-being. But Christians oftentimes act unwisely by hoarding what money they have instead of using it wisely in service to God toward their own eternal well-being. Jesus taught a principle: "He that is faithful in very little is faithful also in much; and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much, if therefore ye have not been faithful in unrighteous mammon (that is the use of money), who will commit to your trust the true riches?" (verses 10-11). Jesus then taught that each must choose who or what he will serve...will a person choose to serve God, or will he choose the vanity of allowing his possessions (money) to be his master? One can't do both! ~Maxie B. Boren
By Charles D. Beebe Via Bulletin Digest What a wonderful place is the church which our Savior, Jesus Christ, died for. Listed in Matthew 16: 18 Jesus said, "And I also say unto you that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it". Please allow me to list some pertinent reasons why the church is all sufficient.
If you desire forgiveness of your sins, this
unspeakable blessing may be found in the body of Christ which is the church.
"And he put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things
to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him which filleth all
in all" [Ephesians 1 :22-23] Our total spiritual needs are met in the church,. How blessed we are as God's children to possess such a refuge!
